277248 2004-09-30 13:27:00 I am delighted PCW has supplied other browsers to trial on its latest CD. Thanks.
As so many here rave about Firefox I thought Id give it a whiz. Must I uninstall IE6 first? Can I have both at the same time? 'Is it safe?' Apart from the many security flaws with IE6, what makes it better?

277249 2004-09-30 13:39:00 Don't uninstall IE you will need it at times, just install FireFox and enjoy the future.

Just believe, and have faith, after a bit of familiarization you will never go back. When you are ready to install the multitude of extensions then get back and I will tell you of the best ones that I know.

Tab Browser Preferences, for instance, you do not want to be without.

277252 2004-09-30 14:31:00 When you first download FireFox it is "naked" so to speak and the joy is that you can customize it anyway that you like and the 'world is your oyster'.

You should find that it is a very rewarding experience and with all the possibilities available you will never look back to Explorer which has definitely had its day.

Although My IE2 is very powerful and it is only the vunerabilities of IE that have destroyed a great effort by talented people to imaginatively develop a fundamentaly flawed product.

It probably is a bad idea to expose yourself to a presumed benevolent psyberspace (?) hoping for the best, only to find that there are all sorts of idiots (******s) out there that only want to disrupt the ordered development of anything at all, as MicroSoft did in the innocent and heady days of the early internet with the exposure of the OS to ActiveX.

Sorry for the spelling and incoherent thought patterns.

Best of luck.

Robert.

277253 2004-09-30 21:58:00 You still need Internet Explorer for some sites that will not display properly in Firefox due to the webpage author's sloppy code or because ActiveX is required.

Internet Explorer is also required for the Windows Updates page.
