Many thanks to all those who answered my questions about Warehouse Dells (last month) I decided to buy from a local computer store. I am looking forward to taking delivery early next week.
It was great to have the input from those more in the know than me.
Have a great week end.

277181 2004-09-30 21:52:00 Good for you Meg. I hope your new baby exceeds your expectations and has a long and happy life. :-)

We all appreciate feedback here but it is best to post it in the original thread to jog people's memory and so that others who come across threads whilst searching the forum can see what the results were.
Just thought you would like to know for future reference. :-)

277182 2004-09-30 22:30:00 If you want to read Meg's previous thread, just double-click her logon name at the top left of her post and look in her post history.

Do this for threads by any other poster, but if it is an old thread you are looking for, or a thread from somebody with a high post count it is better to use the search facility.

Cheers

277183 2004-09-30 22:37:00 What was your local like? Nice and friendly? Were they helpful? What are the specs of your new machine? Pete O'Neil (250)
277184 2004-10-01 01:03:00 Hi Pete
They were good , asked me what I wanted to do with it, discussed the ins and outs of the different processors , graphics card options etc and then I went totally over the top and went for broke!
At the risk of having my bubble burst by all the IT experts out there the specs are :
CPU Pentium 4 LGA775 3.2GHz, 800MHz FSB, 1MB L2 Cache
Mobo GigaByte 8I915P Pro LGA775 ATX, Intel 915P, PCI Express, Dual Channel DDR-400, Giga LAN, IEEE-1394, SATA, Dual BIOS, Intel High Definition Audio, GIGABYTE ShieldWare
RAM TwinMOS 1GB DDR-400 Dual-Channel Kit (2x512M, 32Mx8 CL2.5
HDD Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 Serial ATA 80G 7200rpm, 8M Buffer
FDD Samsung 3.5" 1.44MB Floppy Disk Drive,
CDRW Samsung 52X32X52X CD Re-Writer, 16X DVD-ROM, 2M Buffer,
Graphics Powercolor Radeon X600XT PCI-E(500/740MHz), 128M 128-bit DDR, VGA+DVI-I+ S-Video Out, Cooling Fan
Sound Card Onboard should suffice
Case FSP Midtower Case with 350W Power Supply

I will up grade to a sound card and get an extra HDD next year.
I already have a 17" LCD screen, Boston Digital Speakers, Dynalink external modem, Microsoft cordless keyboard & mouse (optical) and a Liebert UPS.

Have a great day
