277489 2004-10-02 08:56:00 How is the logon for Home edition different to Pro?

As far as I know they're the same (I use Pro, myself). You can press Ctrl+Alt+Del twice from the Welcome screen, which gives you a proper login prompt.

277490 2004-10-02 09:01:00 Ctrl+Alt+Del twice in home edition doesn't work, you must be in safe mode to access admin 45South (4769)
277491 2004-10-02 10:59:00 hi 45, i knew i should have waited a wee bit longer and d/l'ed those zip files . i am back though, reinstalled and also thanks to winupdate fully sp2'ed...not sure how i feel about that, however time will tell.

To whoever suggested the "controluserpasswords" I had tried that but needed admin privs to use it...which i didnt have!!!

It is rather a mystery how I lost my privies in the first place, its not likely i would have changed them myself...be a bit stoopid aye!!

Anyway guys I'm thinking of recreating the problem to try out this proggie 45 suggested.....may be able to bypass sp2 somehow....

Once again thanks pf 1'ers

277494 2004-10-02 11:22:00 As WTF has already said, yes it works on XP (including SP2)
I actually have a better boot CD that is much easier to use than the links I posted but it's around 7mb & a wee bit too big to offer to email to anyone
I don't have any links for it for downloading but i can make it available on my ftp if anyone wants it
It's a bastardised linux boot disk that lets one delete all passwords on any NT based system
I've used it many a time without problem so far.

To Donna,
glad your up & running again, but you've missed your shot at geekdom!! :)

Me three ( or is it four? ).

I'll add it to my master boot CD I use for installing Windows to the new PCs I sell, and much more, fixing killed windowses etc.

When finished it will be able to boot a PC, install windows from CD, all other apps from network, which is faster than 52X CD.

Maybe some of you could help? I rely heavily on Bart's stuff ( http://www.nu2.nu ).

Cheers
