277361 2004-10-02 08:04:00 I personally hate AVG. I downloaded a virus in its face as a test and it did nothing. Tried the same one with Norton and it picked it up straight away.

The only advantage I can see about AVG is that you can get the free edition.

On un-installing AVG it managed to auto-arrange all the icons on my desktop. Annoying.

Sorry I can't help with your actual problem, But perhaps getting a different antivirus?

277362 2004-10-02 08:18:00 24,

Promoting Nav over Avg is unkind.

They BOTH miss Malware in different situations!

Fact off life.

A single virus test is not very scientific.

For a while I ran them both together and up to date, and they both missed the same thing one day.

NAV has a very slow boot scanner. It is not value for money.

Just like Anti terroist units, Antimalware must allways be behind most of the time.

277363 2004-10-02 08:47:00 I know that what I said was not fair, and nor was my test.

Yes, both of them will miss certain things, that is true, however I just do not find AVG suitable for me, and last time I had it going the email scanner didn't work.

If you like AVG yourself, that's fine by me.

I suppose that If you buy the full version of AVG you can get a pretty decent antivirus, but if they don't have a yearly renewal fee then I say thats a good bonus.

Though I do like Norton firewall, especially its ad blocking features.
