277923 2004-10-03 09:28:00 I recently loaded the SP2 CD which created the following problem . I use ULead Photoimpact 7 for my photographs but since SP2 was loaded the Twain has been switched off using this and other Ulead programs . I checked with Microsoft suite of programs and where a scanner is used it works perfectly .

When I loaded the CD a note came up for confirmation that default program for the DVD player etc . will be Microsoft and this was switched off as I use Nero but obviously the scanner was missed .

I attempted to remove SP2 to return the PC to the original settings as it said that I could but my attempt here drew a zero, the reply I received was that I could not do this, contrary to what was posted . I even tried the System Restore but drew a blank here also .

My question is how can I get the scanner working once again? What setting has been effected that I need to switch off to get the scanner working in the Ulead programs again?

277924 2004-10-03 21:13:00 Did u try scanning from within Photoimpact?? It shouldn't matter how many programs use Twain, If you open the program and try to use a scanner, it should work .

Even tho it says Microsoft or whatever is the default program . All u have to do is what you've done previously . If it worked with Nero, or Photoimpact, or whatever, open that program and do what u did previously . The scanner should still work, regardless of what XP says .

I think most people think, with scanning u chuck whatever in the scanner and when the popup appears, on what program u want to use, you use it . BUT with scanning, you're MEANT to open the program u want to use for scanning, THEN select the scanner/whatever, then scan the pic, whatever you want to scan .

277925 2004-10-04 07:37:00 Thanks for your reply Spacemanzz the trouble since SP2 is when I scan within the program. I can now scan from outside the program and not within it, whenever I select the scanner the correction with Twain comes up but not when I scan outside the program. Jmurd (6229)
277926 2004-10-04 07:45:00 That sounds a bit strange. You could try uninstalling the driver for the scanner. See if theres updated drivers for the scanner off the scanner's site. Install the drivers, if there are later versions. See what happens.

In photoimpact, isnt there an option where u can select the twain device / the scanner??

What else have u got besides a scanner thats twain?? a digital camera??
