277830 2004-10-03 06:12:00 For all uses of Mozilla Firefox:

Read about the Security Update (www.mozilla.org).

To update your Firefox, if you are already running a PR release of Firefox you will notice a little red/orange icon up in the top right-hand side of your browser. Clicking on this will give you the option to install the security update which installs in seconds. If you are running an older version of Firefox, they recommend you update to the latest full version of Firefox, or install the patch manually. You will find the link for the manual patch in the webpage link above.

I have only just updated my Firefox to 0.10.0 from the Firefox download page. You may find your web browser cache will still link to the previous version of the package (hover over the download link and it should have 0.10.1 in the file name), but if your link still shows 0.10.0, you can go directly here (ftp.mozilla.org) and select manually either Firefox Setup 1.0PR.exe for Windows and firefox-1.0PR-i686-linux-gtk2+xft-installer.tar.gz or firefox-1.0PR-i686-linux-gtk2+xft.tar.gz for Linux.

277833 2004-10-03 09:11:00 What happens if you are running an older version of Firefox?
does this mean a complete reinstall of FF, to become a new version?

or does it have a patch? or is it only for 0.10.0 ?

im not running 0.10.0 i have 0.9.

will look into it tomorow a bit more closely.

277834 2004-10-03 21:02:00 I think one thing to note is that Mozilla are quick to get a patch out and fix any security bugs BEFORE they are exploited, Microsoft seems to enjoy waiting untill a hole they are usually aware of is actually exploited before they decide whether or not they will do something about it.
