| 277911 | 2004-10-04 08:09:00 | There is nothing illegal with porn. Porn is just the taking of pictures of a relatively common act. If someone took pictures of your parents having sex conceiving you that is porn. And if you told anyone else you found porn on my computer I would get over it. But would I take the computer back to you next time nope. It is my experience that more computers have porn images in temp folders than computers without. Sorry from deviating from windows liscence thead tedheath |

Otherwise what people chose to have on their comps i don't consider to be any of my business,i stay out of there personal files, have no intrest in their downloads or installed programs or serial numbers, all that is of interest are programs running that are causing the problem that eventuated in it being bought to me in the first place . I do however give general advise about where the majority of spyware and diallars are picked up from, and if the comp comes straight back re-infected and a buch of porn images in the cache then i have to go into specifics with the client,I have in the past had to tell the "wife",but this has been where they have turned up to get the comp and asked me a direct question,ie: "Did this happen because (insert repressed husband here) visited porn sites?" , To be specific about pirate Winxp,as was touched upon that only raises its head when the software needs to be reloaded for whatever reason and they have no media, and the installed key is from the Devilsown release ,If thats all they have then i cannot or rather will not provide the media and use their ilegal key, they have to part with some cashola . If the repair doesn't call for a key to be entered then in comes in the shop and goes back out again (in race ready condition) without me giving a quarter of a seconds thought as to what key was used to install the OS . |

I'll vote for that its my policy too.....not that I go looking as such but if I 'fell over' some kiddie porn well i'd report it without hesitation...... as for pirate software.......operating systems: I dont care what a person does in that respect......I 'assume' that their product key is genuine and unless there is a technical reason i wont tell em to buy new......I wont however knowingly install pirate o/s |

Who would have thought that something as simple (or complicated) as installing software and typing a few numbers could f**k you in the ass . . . And after all that you still have to name you first child Bill or Billena! Stoopid bill gates and his stoopid licensing rip offs mutter mutter mutter . . . . We shoudln't have to put up with this **** when using a computer! Microsoft has made computers dangerous for the average joe! If everyone installed linux the world would be a better place . . . . ya don't see no serial numbers or lawsuit's there do ya? |

| 277919 | 2004-10-04 20:22:00 | I too have a similar policy as Metla... If I did find pornographic materials screwing with the system, I'd let the owner know, no hesitation. If I found under-aged materials, I'd phone the police without hesitation If I know they're using an illegit key because WinXP SP2 wont install, then again I'll talk to them and let them know they simply _have_ to buy windows! |

They get their HDDs 'sanitised' before disposal to a third party, so usually the drive is completely clean. Of course in computer auctions like Turners, computers will come from all sources, liquidation, film companies, re-possessions. and often they will have a disks and licenses with them. Computers which have been originally network computers will most often have onboard NIC, sound and graphics, and less frequently CD ROM drives. The graphics may be somewhat limited if you are into gaming. The PIII 1GHz NetVista I bought does have an AGP slot and it came with a 16MB NVidia Riva TNT2 M64 AGP card, and a 30GB HDD, CD drive, quite good really. |
