278080	2004-10-04 06:25:00	Hi guys :-) My new PC arrives tomorrow with XP installed. I am going to load MS Office (I have never used before my current pc has Corel) and I wondered if someone could answer a question. If I install Office does 'Outlook' replace 'Outlook Express' ??? Or do I have both programmes (therefore having to set one as my default e-mail client)?? I have had a search on PF1 but couldn't find the answer. Many thanks Meg	Meg_h_nz (6065)

IMHO sod all. Unless you are using it in an environment where the Calendar and Exchange functionalities are heavily used it is nothing but a bloated unstable and vulnerable mail client. Outlook stores all it's message in one single .pst file, that one single files gets corrupted or deleted which is not uncommon all mail is shot, not just the one folder as in OE. Realistically for probably 90% or more of home users something no frills like Outlook Express, Thunderbird or Eudora would be more than ample. Outlook is extremely resource intensive and unless you intend to use all the advanced features you might as well use OE.	whiskeytangofoxtrot (438)

But this is why I backup my Outlook.pst file. The advantage here is that having backed it up I could even do a complete format of the hard drive and reinstall office and import the *.pst file back. This will work even with a new motherboard and / or operating system. Back up anything and you could napalm your machine and still maintain the data . > Try finding all your Outlook express data files and > export to a new computer . Search -- > * . dbx -- > Done .
