| 278057 | 2004-10-04 04:41:00 | Hi, does anyone know how to locate the files downloaded automatically via Windows Update i . e . the folder location . I previously had Automatic Updates in control panel set to: 'download udpates, but let me choose when to install them . ' A rather large update is being downloaded however I want to cancel this, so I have since changed the setting in Automatic Updates to: 'notify me but don't automatically download or install them' Problem is I assuming the settings are in effect but not for the partially downloaded file, which i'm guessing is going to have to finish . Would this be right? How can I remove the partially downloaded update safely without messing up any system settings? Thanks in advance for any help . |

Will be interested to see what the experienced posters have to say as my settings are for choosing what I download. I have a CD of SP2 but still too scared to actually install it. Good luck anyway. |

This is only a guess on my part. > Problem is I assuming the settings are in effect > t but not for the partially downloaded file, which > i'm guessing is going to have to finish. I would suggest you use a CD to install WinXP SP2. I had a person here in a similar situation. I installed SP2 and the message went away to never return. Just phoned him to be 100% sure. Where the partially downloaded files are I have no idea at this moment. |
