| 278352 | 2004-10-05 04:18:00 | The SolidPDF registration was working OK on Sunday . You were trying to install it from the free CD I assume (I doubt that it will be free by direct access to the website without the correct version being installed) . But I guess it will be time limited as to availability to register free . Once registered of course you get the unlock code and that should work whenever you reinstall it . It appears to be generated according to the name and email address supplied to register . So just providing the free unlock code will not work (as well as being against the licence agreement) . You would need my name and email used . And Chris Randal's solution works partially and sometimes . Formatting is often lost, and images are not converted (but can be pasted separately) . SolidPDF does the lot perfectly, even complex sales brochures are converted . |

| 278354 | 2004-10-05 04:44:00 | Thanks for all the suggestions team. Funnily enough, I already have a trial version of SolidConverter. Thanks to a post earlier this year from GF as I recall. I confirm that it works - but only 10% of the document until it is paid for. Fancy expecting to make money out of it. :_| I don't print a lot of PDFs but the problem is, our printer is shared, and my lovely secretary become somewhat toxic when her letters are blocked by my printing. I'll experiment with cut and paste in the future. Its not important enough to convert the docs, most of the time. |

| 278355 | 2004-10-05 04:44:00 | Hi Godfather It sounds like you need to install a 2Mb Adobe postscript SIMM into your printer. I know these are readily available for the Laserjet 4, 4+ & 5 but I'm not sure if the same stick will fit into the 5P (from memory I think they do). Without a doubt this will speed up the pdf document printing. You can check how much RAM your printer has installed (and if there is an Adobe postscript SIMM installed) by pressing both of the buttons on the top of the printer at the same time and a configuration page will pop out. | 278357 | 2004-10-05 04:46:00 | Metla, It is cheaper than adobae and probably is . I have found . ctdeveloping . com/ctdeveloping/default . asp" target="_blank">www . ctdeveloping . com Which has a free text Extractor you may keep at the end of the Demo . Which is all many would need to extract the 2 pages of text they wish to keep from a 400 page disk hogger . It "Appears" to be Legal so could also be used by winston to resolve the issue at hand . Godfather , I would "like" a copy of the C/D the edition of the Magazine is still available on back issue order . If the disk is still supplied, and if you can still obtain registration I would buy the back issue . I shall enquire but an answer will probably not be forthcoming . D . |

| 278358 | 2004-10-05 04:50:00 | Winnie look at your print port (is it parallel or USB) and spool settings, RAW, EMF, etc, whether it is set to wait or start printing "Large" documents before completely processed. Also look at your postscipt and network printer settings, just a wild guess, thse last two, if all else fails :D Maybe the software needs an upgrade?? I'm not in windows at the mo but, I'm sure someone can point you in the right direction to the settings. As for charging, don't you add 5% to your invoice to cover such things? Cheers Murray P |

Forms and photocopying ;) I'll have a look at the settings and see if there is anything worth changing . Mind you, I become as popular as a pole-cat when I "fix" our office computers . It's a dangerous task . Andrew - you might have a good point . I haven't updated the print drivers for a couple of years . Not sure about adding memory or a SIMM card but it is worth looking . I think D . Murray really has the explanation - it thinks its printing graphics . And I thought this was a really simple question . Does no-one else notice a lag printing from PDF? |

| 278360 | 2004-10-05 07:57:00 | Winston, Yes, every body can read it for free but there are catches, slower printing and large storage volumes (keeping 150 pages when you only want 5) are the -. Most legal editors are expensive with expensive compulsory updates. I may yet legally get that free editor which looks rather nice. D. |

Hi Winston I've seen this many many times with the older HP laser printers printing pdf documents and it's not a software issue - it's the printer hardware (not enough RAM and the Adobe postscript SIMM also helps - the 2Mb postscript SIMM achieves both). Have a look at this auction (www.trademe.co.nz) on TradeMe - I know it's a 2100 but the 6P is the baby brother to the 2100 (and sorry I mentioned 5P earlier but I had them on the brain after working on a couple this afternoon - the 5P is the baby brother to the 6P and the parts are mostly interchangeable anyway). We are out of stock of this SIMM but ask Joe (nutech) if the one I linked is compatible with the 6P and if not, ask if he has one for the 6P. He's very good and reasonably priced and will provide telephone support. A. |
