| 278698 | 2004-10-06 08:41:00 | Hello, I have a Pioneer 16x DVDrom 117 drive on which I watch dvd movies. It stutters or judders all the time, especially when trying to access movie menus. I have tried to identify if it is running on Udma but am not sure if it is in PIO mode and I cannot seem to change the settings (because I believe UDMA is best for DVD drives) despite uninstalling & reinstalling the drive. It is running on Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 with Xp Athlon 2100 and 256mb 2700 memory. It is on the secondary channel as master with a cd writer as slave and on my primary channel I have my hard disk. I have read conflicting reports that a/ it should be seperate from the second optical drive and b/ that it should be seperate from the hard drive so god knows how I am supposed to configure it (I have 2 channels). I have tried to change my settings to optimum performance and closed all extra programs down. Sometimes it is less juddery than others but who knows why? Has anyone got the same problem and any solutions... in plain English please, I am not a computer whiz. Cheers, Martin |
