278575 2004-10-06 03:56:00 Right, well when I try to open Paint, or try to open something in Paint it comes up with that window that says "Paint has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." If anyone knows why it does this and how to fix this problem then PLEASE say something!! donthurtme (6243)
278576 2004-10-06 04:10:00 Have you tried removing it and then reinstalling again??

278577 2004-10-06 05:14:00 Hi Ben

Welcome to PF1

Paint is a simple program consisting of just one file: MsPaint.exe

You can uninstall it using Windows Install/uninstall facilities in Control panel, or much simpler, you can just rename it MsPaint.ex_ then go to This Site (www.computerhope.com) and follow the links to download another copy. You just copy or move the new file to the same directory where you found the original.

Hint: right clicking on the paint icon and selecting "Properties" will tell you where it is.

You will find other information about MsPaint on the site provided.

If that doesn't work, post again in this same thread and we'll see what else we can do to help.

Take a look at the Help us to Help You thread at the top of the page too for futere reference it will get you better & faster answers.

Cheers

278578 2004-10-06 07:56:00 Oops!

Sorry, that link no longer hooks into the MS download I have used in the past.

Post your OS details, but it looks like you may have to uninstall Paint and reinstall from your installation CD.

Cheers

278579 2004-10-08 10:17:00 Hello,

He has windows XP home - i gave him another copy of paint but when he runs it the same thing happens. I suggested reinstalling XP again, but he doesn't wanna go that far... (not wiping, just reinstalling).
