278452 2004-10-05 09:45:00 I have a Dynalink ADSL modem and jetstart. There is no problem with the link at bootup BUT when data stops for a period the connection to the ISP (XTRA) is dropped. The connection icon in the tray is still visible but no data available. After disconnecting, then reconnecting the initial communication is made gos no further. A reboot and reconnection fix this for an hour or 5 minutes.

I have just shifted from the house next door, with new wiring and another $99.00 connection fee from Xtra, with no difference.

This modem when previously used on an Xtra jetstream a/c never failed.

Could it be a firewall issue, stopping authentication?? HELP.

278453 2004-10-05 09:53:00 Try holding down the reset button on your router and resetting it to factory settings. I had a similar issue with another Dynalink router.

Reset button should look like a pinhole.

278454 2004-10-05 10:04:00 I have been trying to get my router to behave this evening, reset it as Lo mentioned a couple of times and was still unable to connect to my orcon account, but was able to hook straight into my xtra account, anyhow after the reset didnt help i selected reset to factory settings via the config panel and she fired up like an old holden with a new set of rings and a comfy seatcover..... metla (154)
278455 2004-10-05 11:07:00 I'd try the software way first as per Metla's fix, before resetting via the firmware, which is what the pin method is as far as I know. You also might find that without guidance from Dynalink, if the factory reset faults you could be out of luck for warranty.

278456 2004-10-06 07:42:00 Which plan are you on at the moment?

If you're not on JETSTART then that could be your problem. I had the same problem with my Nokia router after I changed to the JETSURF plan, all I had to do was change my logon details.... this meant getting rid of the "jetstart" portion of my logon.

That may help.

cheers

278457 2004-10-06 10:23:00 I run a similar modem and experienced exactly the same problem .. dropped data connection but Icon still showed me online.

Answer was a faulty conection to my putter. (took me hours to nail that one)

just add it to the things to look at. :-)
