| 279195 | 2004-10-08 07:27:00 | Hello to you all Is there anyone of you who has experience with computer power surge protection. And I guess the modem would be protected also? Also how are those battery backup systems working, any good? Any suggetsions of brands and types? For any help to this, many thanks in advance. Gion |

APC is good entry level easy install in win/all includes surge/lightning strike Ect Protects also monitor and printer ect from surge/Flcutuations. There are others make sure you get one with auto shutdown/hibernation. D. |

| 279199 | 2004-10-08 21:51:00 | I use an APC ES-500va (BF500-AZ), does the job very nicely. Although this model is on the edge of what I require (600-750va would be better), because I'm going to add some more kit to the equation (ie; more wattage) my sums found it was more economic to by two of these units than one 1000va unit although, check what backup and shutdown software you get with any particular model + LAN / Modem/Router protection (the ES-500 will greacefully shut down you PC and save your data files + LAN, etc).
