| 279163 | 2004-10-08 03:59:00 | Hi, I had a lookat the FAQ section but could not locate it. What the differences among those 3 bands of wifi? I wanna get a PC Card for the laptop so I can use them at the airport for free, it would also benefit by somewhat at home too. I see some cards are G only, some are tri band. One is faster than the other .. then what is the one moddle one for? Also just curious in HK what is the trendiest Cellphone. What model is it?I just wanna know .. given they are leaders in the mobile phone market. Is Nokia still at the top? Is voda live or equivalent a big hit there, I personally can't say its useful unless u need news etc.. email and text and calls can be done without it. Thanks. |

If you want to be sure that you can connect to a wifi hot spot at a airport then you'll have to get a card that support all three protocols. You could probably get away with just a 802.11g card as 802.11b was far more common than 802.11a. 802.11a = 54mbps 802.11b = 11mbps 802.11g = 54mbps An interesting fact is that the majority wireless connections are only half duplex. |
