2004-10-07 21:21:00 | Please someone let me know how to make 'Opera' version 7.54 my default browser. Thanks | fritz (1552) | |
2004-10-07 21:28:00 | It usually asks whether u want it to be the default browser, when u first run it. Altho you may still need ie, if u want updates. Other browsers or even some programs that have links in them may not work, if u make another browser the default browser. | Spacemannz (808) | |
2004-10-07 21:46:00 | Thanks Spacemannz, yes - as I first run Opera it asked me if I wanted to make it my default browser, still something must have happened to reverse it, unfortunately I don't get another chance to make Opera my default browser as that question doesn't appear anymore. Was just wondering if there is another way to do it. Cheers

2004-10-07 21:53:00 | Tools - Preferences (at the bottom)- Default Applications, from list on the left (near bottom)- tick "Check if Opera is default etc" - Apply. Done. | Winston001 (3612) | |
2004-10-07 22:13:00 | Thanks Winston001, have done what you suggested, however when I click a link on my desktop or the Quick-Launch bar it always opens in IE6 Cheers

2004-10-07 22:30:00 | Try going File | Preferences | Default Application and have a look at what's there. HTH :D | mark c (247) | |
2004-10-08 03:03:00 | Go into IE Tools, Options, Programs and put a tick in the Check for default browser choice. Next time IE fires up it should ask if you want it to be the default - say no and tick dont ask again. Hopefully that will fix it. ;-) | Fire-and-Ice (3910) | |
2004-10-08 19:56:00 | Thanks 'johnboy' - 'mark c' - and 'Fire-and Ice' for your suggestions, unfortunately Opera is still not my default browswer, - never mind I just have to learn to live with it. Thanks again. Cheers

2004-10-08 20:09:00 | Have another go with this. File | Prefernces | Default applications and look at a box near the bottom with the line next to it " Check if Opera is default browser on startup" and check the box, then I'd close everything down and reboot. :) I keep IE as the default browser (for others) so never actually done it but that's what I'd try.
