1372447 2014-04-11 18:13:00 So my dog tripped over the cable of my laptop 3 weeks ago. Nice somersaults, and b*ggered thereafter. Made an insurance claim, and they decided to fix it - HD dead, and the touchpad dead. I'm a mouse-guy so the touchpad did not bother me. Got it back yesterday, new HD, could not get anything off the old HD so everything on HD is new, so I started to clean out the system. They reloaded Win7 OEM, had a lot of cr*pware (Nortons, and other stuff I never use including games). Deleted a lot of cr*pware - including Nortons, but as I've been d/l'ing everything I want I thought I should either clean it our properly (that I never did before) or die trying. Is there an easy program that will give me a snapshot of installed programs that I can post here? I know for a fact there's a heck of a lot of Toshiba programs (that I never used before) that could possibly go as well. I can basically roll it back to yesterday and redo everything, based on the advice.

The other alternative is to use a new, never-been-used Win 7 Home ED so I can reformat and load this - but the OEM version is still doing well. What do you think.

While I waited for the above repair job I used SWMBO's MS Surface. I realised I positively hate Win 8 RT with a passion, and the tablet is so slooooooow.

So what do you guys think?

1372452 2014-04-12 04:12:00 Norton can be very difficult to remove completely. I find that "Revo Uninstaller" deals to it well, removes all the obsolete folders and files and Registry entries. mzee (3324)

I find "format c:" to be the most effective method ;)

Not only that, it gets rid of vista at the same time, or even better, it can zap W8 (wait) right out of the solar system.
That has got to be good for you.

Oh sorry, I meant run "format c:" from the Windows 8.1 disc, followed by setup.exe. That's the best thing to do to a PC ;)
