1372172 2014-04-08 00:00:00 It is April 8 and the update is supposed to be available today, and despite having the prerequisite KB2919442 installed, I can't see the update (KB2919355) listed in the list of windows updates.

Perhaps NZ is too many hours ahead for general availability? I would have thought it would be available for Australia on this day too...

1372173 2014-04-08 00:01:00 It's been available for ages - you update through the store. wratterus (105)
1372174 2014-04-08 00:04:00 I mean the April 2014 Update to Windows 8.1
support.microsoft.com

This update basically obsoletes Windows 8.1 like XP as Microsoft said they will stop providing updates for Windows 8.1.

1372177 2014-04-08 04:22:00 I've been running the unofficial leak for almost a month now. I must say this has pushed me over the edge, and I'd now happily recommend 8.1 Update 1 over Windows 7.

The whole metro / fullscreen apps still aggrivates me, but a few other nice features make up for it now. Little things like booting straight to the desktop are definitely FTW!

1372178 2014-04-08 05:05:00 Boot to the desktop has been an option since 8.1, is it the default now? Alex B (15479)

For devices without touch, yes.

I'll be changing that back, personally...

My Win8.1 is fully updated through Windows update but couldn't find any update1 in the 'Store'.

They are not yet available to the general public. They should be in the regular updates options, NOT the store. KB2919442 should have already come through a couple weeks ago. ( 14th march)

The updates are available if you have a Technet or MSDN subscription, have been for a few days now, along with the 8.1 ISO's with updates included.

Also they are slightly different to the previous leaked versions, as well as the recommended install sequence is different.

Recommended Install Order
1. KB2919442
2. KB2919355
3. KB2932046
4. KB2937592
5. KB2938439
6. KB2949621

Heres a screen shot of the ones that will be available any day now.
