1372457 2014-04-12 18:35:00 OK I've decided to reformat. In the old days we used to format c:\something \something else - needed any more?

1372458 2014-04-12 21:35:00 Oh sorry, I meant run "format c:" from the Windows 7 disc, followed by setup.exe. That's the best thing to do to a PC ;)

I've corrected your typo

1372460 2014-04-13 06:01:00 Oh b*gger. Reinstalled Win 7, but can not find network adapter. I am typing this on SWMBO's tablet - can't connect meaning I also can't download drivers off the net. The following items in the devices (control panel) show no drivers : Ethernet controller, network controller, PCI simple Comms controller, unknown device. The rest all seems honkey dorey. I can d/l files/installers via SWMBO's lappie should I need to.

Sh*te. Never experienced this before - of course there is no recovery section on the HD that may have carried the drivers.

WT where are you?

1372461 2014-04-13 06:37:00 Get the latest drivers from the manufacturer. CliveM (6007)
1372462 2014-04-13 07:49:00 Bit late now, But all the drivers will have been in a folder on the C Drive.

Anyway -- have a look on the underside of the laptop, There will be a Toshiba Sticker with a lot of Info on it. There will be the model number, along with several other numbers.

Something like the one I found on the internet:

5671

Post back EXACTLY the numbers /Letters that are there. Once that's done its usually easy to locate the right drivers. ( links can be provided)

If for some reason theres no sticker on the underside, with the laptop turned off, and unplugged, remove the battery, the details /Sticker will be in the battery compartment.

Clive is spot on, they can be downloaded from the site, but the right ones have to be installed, could be realtek or Atheros Brand / Drivers.

1372464 2014-04-13 18:47:00 By the way - which is best : 32 bit or 64 bit. I only have the 32 bit disk slipstreamed with SP1 (as per WT's instructions a year or two ago).

1372465 2014-04-13 19:46:00 32 or 64 still doesn't make much difference except 64 lets you have more than 4GB of RAM.
I'd go 64 given the choice as that's where everything is going these days but if you have 32 and are unlikely to want more than 4GB of RAM you will be fine with 32 bit.

1372466 2014-04-13 21:50:00 On a working Computer, go to www.mytoshiba.co.nz if the boxes don't populate from that link, on the right using the drop down arrows, fill them out as you provided:

5672

From there download the required drivers put onto a flash drive and install to Laptop. Once the Ethernet is working you can use the Laptop to get the remainder.

The LAN are near the bottom of the page, theres several to select from in the wireless, sometimes its a guess as to which one so you have to download, try it, if it doesn't work try another.

Start with the chipset --
show no drivers : Ethernet controller, network controller, PCI simple Comms controller, unknown device they will all be there, the unknown devices can be the Bluetooth, card reader, touchpad, Intel Rapid Storage, etc its just a matter of installing them all until everything is as it should be. :)
