| 1353824 | 2013-09-19 05:16:00 | [off topic] A family member sold her car the other day and we were cautioning her not to let it go until the funds were in her account, expecting payment via cheque or bank deposit. Got a tad worried when she phoned to say it had gone, being as it was a Friday night and the banks had shut, but then she said the buyer had transferred the money into her account whilst in her living room via his mobile phone. She then checked her account to be sure before handing over the keys. Us oldies need to get with the times, apparently.  |

It takes 3 working days for our deposited cheques to show as "available" money but you sure can use it in the meantime...there are no restrictions on being able to access it straight away. That's what I understand from the cashier the other day when I deposited a cheque. She told me, no, I can't use it untill it is cleared. |

Check online - it will show 2 balances...then use your eftpos...it will let you, we've done it for years.....of course, you do need to trust the cheque payer - cause of course, it could still bounce after........ As an example, business paying us with cheques, deposit the thing, then pay suppliers via direct credit - it allows it, it goes through, even though the 2 balances in theory..... I think it won't allow you to take cash from the TAM though....not sure on that, not something we do. |

Boss would make a payment , get the goods sent & then have payment reversed the next day. All a bit dodgy & the bank eventually closed the a/c. |
