1372117 2014-04-07 12:45:00 Does anyone know of any way or any app that allows a user to simply use the Share Via menu in Android (specifically TouchWiz on a Samsung device) to send a file to an SMB shared Folder?

I use ES File Explorer extensively to copy files to/from lots of computers over WiFi and it's brilliant, but most novice user WILL get lost navigating the different screens. It would be so much easier to just hit the Share button and send it to a SMB shared folder.

I don't know of any apps out there which currently do that though.

Thanks for the reply . I am aware of the "Intent" system in Android and I think it is the best feature in the OS, it makes it so easy to share things to any installed Apps . And the user don't need to configure anything, all apps that can support it will just appear on the list when you click share .

That's why I thought wouldn't it be nice if novice users can use that to send files to a SMB share, just like in Windows, where you can use the "Send to" on the Right click menu .

1372120 2014-04-08 04:22:00 Not quite that simple. The intent could perhaps notify an application, but from there on out you'd still have to do other stuff like specify server / sharename / subdirectory, along with user / password. Chilling_Silence (9)

But surely the credentials for a "specified" SMB share can be saved, just as Facebook login is saved, so the user can post photo by using the Share via menu without having to provide the login details. Shame none of the File Managers provide this facility.

I like ES File Explorer a lot, but it will be nightmare for a novice user to navigate.
