279509 2004-10-10 08:45:00 Gran,

WAS GOING TO ?

Red flag go back one lap on the Podium, and on appeal.

Do you not remember Dick spitting the dummy on the Podiun.

279512 2004-10-10 09:14:00 It all really comes down to just drivers - sure the engines are tuned slightly different to get better results in different aspects of racing different courses and the body shapes of the models must contribute at least something to aerodynamics but come on people the diversity in v8 racing is gone - hell the cars even look similar now.

Murphy is a great driver and he deserved to win (again) although I say this with a heavy heart as I expected Ambrose to win (as I do every year) or at least one of the FORD boys - the BA Falcon is a beautiful thing :D

279513 2004-10-10 09:28:00 Hado,

Ford cylinder head restrictions, what delayed the entry/return of the 5.7.

Because Jack Rauche's G.T.H.O. Phase V desroyed current GM AUS product on paper, at the time.

That was all that was needed to delay the return of the 5.7, allowing the rules to be bent in GM AUS favour again.

Hence the man who fathered the return of the performance V8 Ford to Australia, did not supply his team.

The Chev, Opel, benifit continues.

279514 2004-10-10 09:47:00 It will all be academic next year when Toyota join the fray.

With a few years development and traditional Toyota engineering and reliability I think the operative word from the GM & Ford camps will be Bugger. And road or roadside, dead is dead.

Nissan Godzilla swept all before it as I recall, as did the Texaco Sierras and a few other hot numbers until the rules were changed to exclude the competition.

I'm a Mazda fan myself, but it's still a good days racing though!

Cheers

279516 2004-10-10 09:53:00 Billy,

Shame about the mazda thing, in general.

279517 2004-10-10 09:55:00 Nothing wrong with a 2 car series, nor with restictions on whats allowed, all racing series have them.

There is also plenty of other places to see jap crap or cars with bigger sized engines. All cars enterend in the series are governed by the same restrictions and are competitve against each other....which is right where they should be.

I fail to see why people want cars from other manufacturers in the races, its a given that faster cars exsist, allways will be,So what if a japper can do better laptimes? So can a f1 car......

A . T . C . as a G . M . H . benifit is one thing .

Bathurst was "The Great Race" as a free for all .

Do you not rememBer references to brock running a holden powered A 35 .

G . M . H have Stolen a great event and ruined it to further their marketing .

If Bathurst does not return to a much broader format it becomes just another event in the A . T . C . As has happened to Sanddown .

If the international flavour does not return the event will cease to be of Global interest .

That would be bad for Southern Hemisphere motorsport and particulary young reigonal drivers .
