279715 2004-10-10 00:52:00 Just had a rather interesting experience .

After clearing out internet explorers history, temp files, cookies, etc etc went to PF1s Spyware thread to get the link to Trend Micro for a scan, did the scan then just happened to see how many cookies have been planted by viewing Xtra's homepage (must change that ;-)), 3 PF1 pages and the TM thing .

Want to guess how many?

How about a mere 284 . :O

I'm sure I dont need all those . ;-)

279718 2004-10-10 12:37:00 Nowadays I use Firefox, but occasionally go back to Internet Explorer for sites that need it.
My home page for that is XtraMSN - and each time I get a warning from Spybot S & D about a "known threat" with an offer to block it (which naturally I accept)
The names vary. The latest was something called Avenue A.Inc.
Bearing that in mind, I'm not surprised you have a lot of cookies if you use IE constantly.
Seems like time someone made Xtra fess up about the extra stuff they're loading on - and presumably being paid for?
Recommending deletion is fine - if you suspect they're there.
When on IE, I had suspect sites. Didn't expect Xtra was one of them.
