| 279643 | 2004-10-09 22:53:00 | Just wondering how long it takes for your Windows to start up after XP. On my laptop with the following specs: Toshiba Portege R100 Intel Centrino Ultra-Low Voltage 900MHz 768MB DDR Ram + Dedicated 32MB video card ram The computer is on a wireless network connected to a router with another computer on the network thats usually off (but its drives are mapped) It takes about 25 to 28 seconds to get to the login screen and another 25 seconds until I get my desktop with all programs loaded. I have antivirus installed and Office and the usual (quicktime... etc) Is this normal? how long does it take you guys to start windows with SP2? Thanks |

| 279644 | 2004-10-09 23:02:00 | That could depend on what programs are loading when u finally get into windows . Mine would take about 15-30 secs . . Not that long tho . . I think this thing loads about 40 different processes after it logs into XP . . This is before I even get on the net lol or open any programs . BUT I guess it could also depend on the speed of the system itself and ram . I use a P4 2 . 4 HT CPU with 1 GB ram . So, would most probably boot / load a bit faster . |

| 279648 | 2004-10-10 08:19:00 | With SP2: approx 45 seconds With SP1: approx 45 seconds With no SP: approx 45 seconds Conclusion: The service packs haven't noticeably affected my startup time. ;) Mike. |
