279614 2004-10-09 14:24:00 I can't get task scheduler to work for me in XP Home even though it works for the tasks that Norton System Works sets up automatically.

I keep getting the message "error#0x80070005, Access is denied. You do not have permission...

I want to set a schedule for Spybot S&D. How is it done? Vince ?:|

279615 2004-10-09 14:34:00 I should have said, I have sole access to my computer and no passwords have ever been used, user logon etc. If I have permission to alter system files, why can't I schedule a task? Vince Vince (406)

You run as administrator all the time?

There would still be an admin p/w in pro?

Does home not have this?

if you can alter filesys, and install, you should be able to schedule, is norton causing an issue? do you need to p/w into norton ? very odd.

Check in users that you are running as full admin, and not power user (You probably allready have).

Odd.

279618 2004-10-09 20:18:00 I've had endless trouble with the Win XP scheduler, so I got a hold of System Scheduler from www.splinterware.com (it's free) and I've had no further trouble. TideMan (4279)

Norton Sistem Works does not require a password.

I think I've solved the problem. I disabled 'Norton Password Manager' (I never use it) in startup (using SpybotS&D); restarted and tried scheduling the task again, No error message!
I've had enough for today so I haven't tested it yet. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction D. Vince :)

I have tested the task and guess what, It doesn't work. The error message is back; the log file gives a different number from the one above, with the message,
"The specific error is: 0x8007052e: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password." X-( Vince
