| 280006 | 2004-10-11 01:15:00 | Hi, I am thinking of switching to ADSL next month with the new "uncapped" (eg. no excess charges over MB limit - just slowdown) plans coming in. I was thinking of getting a 4-port ADSL router and connecting my desktop and laptop to it. I assume this would allow adsl connection sharing, file/print sharing (currently using crossover) and i would assign the router an ip to act as the internet gateway? How is the connection set up as apposed to dialup (eg. Network Connections area in XP). |

You will be given a login name and password which you put into the routers web configuration page and then the router stays connected to the internet all the time. |
