| 280291 | 2004-10-11 10:22:00 | I have a card as above with a Silicone Image 0680 chip. What is BAR5 ? Should it be enabled or disabled ? I'm not using it as a raid card, but I have intermittent problems with the computer locking up when trying to transfer a large file from one drive to another XP Pro 768Ram, P4 2.4. | 280295 | 2004-10-12 09:08:00 | I've got the newest drivers last night, uninstalled the old ones & installed the new. Still no good. I went to the link, looks like I might have bought some junk to go with the pixelview tv card, that's junk too. The ST Lab & Silicone Image sites are useless. Ho hum do some research & buy another one I think Thanks for the help |

| 280296 | 2004-10-12 10:10:00 | Actually, the Silicon Image website is very good, they have a separate support site, that has drivers and bioses, raid or IDE and a lot of FAQ's I have used a few cards based on the Silicon Image chip and they have work well (Z-cyber) The problem is not so much the chip but more the Maker of the card, some could not even be flashed to upgrade the bios. I don't know what bar5 is but on my card it is enabled by default and cannot be changed. Here is the link to the support site www.siliconimage.com and click on product search and support I have even email them and got a prompt reply, unheard of in this day and age. Try there newest driver and bios (if you have a flashable one) The card may of course be faulty, I did have one that was. Good luck. |
