Yes, it is possible to do it with non-Corp Windows Editions. AFAIK it involves patching the pidgen.dll, but as mentioned, you've gotta do it during boot.

Porn images? Why have something difficult to trace? Why not just use encryption.... Eliptical Curve and then we'll see how easy it is ;-)

280720 2004-10-13 21:24:00 Thanks Murray P - I tried the Snakefoot website u mentioned - but it still requires me to use the install-CD to boot from and Bill won't let me do that. I can only get into bios setup. swan (2648)
280721 2004-10-13 21:29:00 Dear Pete O'Neil re yr reply:
>So what are you actually asking for help on? Getting your old windows >installation back so you can activate it and learn from your mistake?"
* yes that would be good!

> Getting your old windows installation back and bypassing windows >activation?
* I have no objection to activation - it WAS activated - if "activation" *means being able to update it from the Windows website on may *ocassions.

>Or do you want to reinstall windows?
* that would be OK too - if only I could boot with my WinXP install CD

280722 2004-10-13 21:30:00 Swan,

If there is nothing important in there that you want.

Fdisk start again, or put H/D in another unit as slave and see if it is readable, maybe bill has wiped the MBR/Partition table.

I dont know what happens when activation period expires.

Perhaps someone will tell us.

* I can't find Fdisk in my laptop Windows directory!
* maybe its on the install CD?

280725 2004-10-13 22:00:00 I'm intrigued that you can't boot to CD. I'm not aware that non-activation of Windows would or could stop you booting to CD. Check that you've set up your BIOS to allow you to boot to CD as the first boot device. POTUS (5276)
280726 2004-10-13 22:31:00 When you fail to activate the OS it instead boots to an activation screen asking if you want to activate via modem or telephone,if you have a connection it simply dials up ms and takes care of bizzo.....takes about a minute....or you ring them and the automated system reads an activation number back to you.

Never seen what you appear to be experiencing.....

First check what potus said what is first second third ect boot device in bios I was puzzeled by this. is the drive shown in bios?

If there is no change there you need a win98 boot floppy or even a linux boot floppy to boot into something and have a look at the drive the partition table mbr ect. and see what is happening.
