2004-10-13 03:28:00 | Get win2k. It does the same job and does not need blessings from its maker.. | ugh1 (4204) | |
2004-10-13 03:37:00 | Windows 2000 also costs $$.... And its not exactly cheap either! What's the point of just having bought WinXP Home if you're going to buy Win2K 32 days later?! | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
2004-10-13 09:09:00 | Really appreciate your suggestions. The screen message from WinXP before it killed my desktop referred to registration, not activation. If I cannot get my computer to boot from a floppy or CD, how can I even get *any* OS to replace my existing one?

Please just think about this for a while . OPENLY . The only 1/2 safe motheod of activating M/S is on a mobile with caller id turned off . Make sure you get auto Activation and not a real person who will ask extra DATA COLLECTING questions . M/S has the/one of the largest collections of credit card- personal-computer I/D on the planet . This makes it a preimum crimminal target . It is not that secure, and is repeatedly penertrated . The activation issue . on top of all the other B/S was the finall insult that Initiated my/our linux move . From the British Govt after recent legislation . "There will be no privacy on the net, get used to it" D . |

2004-10-13 11:26:00 | Several years ago when I had McAffe Guarddog installed it used to tell me every time my computer was being "scanned anonymously" at Windows Update that "my last name was being sent"! Vince | Vince (406) | |
2004-10-13 13:00:00 | drb1: Well said! _david_: Picture this, if you will: Your ISP logs wherever you go, the websites you visit log where you've come from, how long you were there for, your OS, Web Browser, and also your IP, which can be traced. Try www.maporama.com and see just how close it was to where you really are! It was only _just_ out, by 0.004 for me..... Chill.

2004-10-13 13:32:00 | Chill, There are several folk claiming the ability to resolve the Win activation issue for non corpotate users. Would you happen to know how much truth there is in this. One really needs a sacrificial HDD up to investigate. D.

2004-10-13 13:49:00 | Find not dot com, This is why alqueda and the taleban only use their satphones once, yes once only. Why so many of their messages are relayed through porn immagery. The hidden immage is inserted, for a short time, then removed but the full immage stays. Very difficult to trace. D.
