280405 2004-10-12 02:01:00 As the question states, why can't I use a CD-RW to play CD's in my stereo or discman? Scattershot06 (4844)
280406 2004-10-12 02:06:00 are you brunfing them as data CD's or Audio CD's ?.

if you burn them as data CD's and leave the songs as MP3 format then your stereo or Discman will have to be Mp3 compatible.

280408 2004-10-12 02:59:00 "As the question states" ?

You can't use a CD-RW to play audio CDs on your stereo or discman because your stereo/discman doesn't have a CD-RW drive. If it did, it could probably read audio CDs. I can certainly read audio CDs in a CD-RW in my computer. :D

An answer to what you probably mean ...

Audio players were originally designed to read CDs produced by pressing. The contrast beween the bit on/off signals is much greater than that produced by the laser in a CD-R or CD-RW disk. Instead of an actual pit or no-pit there is a difference in the colour of a spot of dye.

Later audio drives can handle home-written disks (partly because many of them use computer mechanisms because they're cheap). But the best chance is still with CD-R disks rather than CD-RW.

280409 2004-10-12 03:18:00 So if the CD player of the stereo is CD-RW compatible I can even use a CD-RW to make an audio CD?

And if my stereo is MP3 compatible, I can even play songs from a CD that were written to the CD as Data?
