| 281138 | 2004-10-14 09:38:00 | posted a query in Sept about this but now it's re-surfaced - notice appeared re update to zone-alarm so did so - when clicked to open the setup file, which incidentally only appears with .exe on screen, "realplayer" opens and a dialogue box also, with "this metafile contains invalid syntax"- refers to the file as ".exe.ram" - i don't want R P to open this just want to launch the programme like any other - can't rename it, delete it or anything (even with a DOS programme - "list.com") - can anyone out there throw some light here please? and "godfather" am aware of the double ext, ran AVG over it and it's clean (?) | jayal (1291) | ||
| 281139 | 2004-10-14 10:48:00 | Where is this file located? It might give a clue to is't origins. Right click > Properties, what does it say? All I can find for .exe.ram comes up with emm386.exe, ram otherwise rem files are RealPlayer files, but you know this anyway. Cheers Murray P |

| 281140 | 2004-10-14 21:56:00 | hi murray, thanks for your interest - info from properties for what it's worth type - Realplayer Presentation Location - D:\temp (which is one of my "short term file" holders) MS-DOS name - ZLSSET~1.RAM i could delete the thing if all the attribute boxes were available but the "system" box is greyed out - any way to activate it? did an extensive google search but most referred to RAM - as in memory aren't there more punters out there who've struck this problem? |

If successfull, leave it in your trash for a while until your sure it's not necessary. You could try booting to a live distro like Knoppix, mount D: and grab the file and delete, in that way windows will not have any say in the matter. It will be gone though, no turning back.
