281264 2004-10-15 05:34:00 I'm with Orcon and signed up to Bitstream as soon as I could on the 1st.
Was told switchover was going to take 7-30 days. Fair enough, I thought, although why it should take so long, I've no idea.

Phoned Orcon 3 days ago. Apparently I was 300th in the queue roughly and they were processing 100 a day. So I should have it by now...or at least I thought I should.

Then I got this email:

Telecom have now advised us that your JetStream connection for the username xxx will be transferred to a BitStream connection on 29 October 2004.

You don't need to do a thing for now, we will be in touch on your transfer date via email to explain how to complete the transfer.

If you have any questions, please email us at support@orcon.net.nz or call on the number below.

That's a bit more than 3 days I thought. Phoned Orcon again to see if they had got it right:

"Thank you for your call earlier. I've just had a word to our bitstream provisioning team and they have advised that your connection will not be enabled till the 29th of this month because Telecom have allocated certain dates to the technicians in certain regions to do the changeovers. So basically the serviceman in your area is only available on the 29th of this month to make the changes on your exchange along with any other Orcon customers in your area.

Apologies for the delay and any inconvenience. Please feel free to contact me or support@orcon.net.nz if you have any further questions."

What I want to know is has anyone been connected to UBS yet? If so, how long did you have to wait?

I have to say I'm getting a bit impatient now. But then I'm not surprised at Telescum dragging their heels with this.

Cheers,

Barmypom (still stuck on frickin 128kb/s!).

My aniversary date is 28th, so I guess they are doing it based on that. Check your anniversary date.

281270 2004-10-22 05:14:00 Apparently this is happening because Telecon are fluffing around with things before the bitstream changeover.
I don't know whether this only affects Orcon customers or what - but certainly just jetstream starter customers with pci adsl modems.
They are aware of the problem (apparently).

Good ol' Telescum.

Maybe they've just picked me out cos I decided to change to bitstream and they don't want me to change. Or maybe it's cos I post alot of anti-telescum rants on here.
Then again maybe they are just crap.

281273 2004-10-22 09:06:00 You're in gagaland. I don't think Telecom would give a rats backside about what you say about them barmypom.

They put it down to you being barmy
