| 281696 | 2004-10-16 08:36:00 | From NZ Herald ( . nzherald . co . nz/storydisplay . cfm?storyID=3601144&thesection=business&thesubsection=technology" target="_blank">www . nzherald . co . nz) >> 16 . 10 . 2004 >> By ALEXIS GRANT >> If you're unhappy with your internet service provider, you're not alone . >> Thirty-eight per cent of customers of New Zealand's biggest internet company, Telecom's Xtra, are not satisfied with the service, according to a survey by Consumer magazine . >> Consumer readers rated one of the country's smaller internet service providers, Inspire, as the best provider . >> Xtra, which serves more than 500,000 customers, has more problems than other providers with failed connection attempts, disconnections and slow connections, according to the magazine . >> "[The survey] definitely shows that the biggest [provider] in New Zealand, Xtra, needs to address the services it's offering its subscribers, said Consumers' Institute chief David Russell . >> Overall, 68 per cent of respondents were satisfied or very satisfied with their internet provider, both dial-up and broadband . But 38 per cent of dial-up customers were unhappy with the connection speed . Most other complaints were of customer service and technical support . >> "We're surprised by the survey," said Xtra spokesman Nick Brown . "It >> appears inconsistent with our recent achievements . " Hello!!, EARTH TO Xtra Come in Please!!! >> Inspire, with only 10,000 customers, received the best ratings in the survey, which was completed by 6259 of the magazine's readers . Eighty-four per cent of Inspire customers who responded to the survey said they were satisfied or very satisfied with the company's service . >> One Inspire customer told Consumer that the company had "fantastic service" and another said the company was "always most helpful" . >> Other internet companies who fared well in the survey included Orcon (with 81 per cent satisfaction) and Value Net (79 per cent) . >> Slingshot and Freenet received only slightly better ratings than Xtra, with 66 and 65 per cent satisfaction . I Hope this is a wake up call to Xtra! And also This Does not surprise me One Bit! With The amount of Telecom / Xtra basing This forum gets saying how bad xtra is this would be northing new!! |

It's not exactly news that Xtra is pants, I think pretty much any ISP would beat them in terms of speed and service. |

Great, are you going to chase me around and crap peoples threads just to vent your spleen? I mean I'm honoured (if not a little un-nerved) by your obsession and dedication to duty, but seriously drop it already. It's a free country/world/intarweb so there is little you can do to stop me, and unbeknownst to you I have discussed this with Bruce Buckman in private so just give it a rest. At any rate it wasn't a rule being broken, it's just poor practice. |

| 281705 | 2004-10-17 02:24:00 | the previous post on this topic - what a waste of time . With regards to the original post re Xtra getting clobbered . i first came online mid 1998 with cleaner and then from 2000 to sept 2004, was with Xtra for 56k dialup, then jetstart and then recently jetsurf . I never had any problems whatsoever with the service, and although now ive done the complete wireless thing in the last 2 weeks (both phone and internet, much better costwise for me personally) the service from Xtra was always great . I read the article and found it surprising that a large percentage werent happy with the service . Well that was my 2 cents :-) Term X |
