Rest assured R2 certainly knows who Eeyore is. The famous character (of course) from the Karl Marx movie. :D

Just found it. Things were happening, so busy.
Ta for the link. Memories...
Yes, I reckon R2x1 knows Horsefeathers ( Impressions we get...era?) but more importantly do your kids know Eeeyore? Lots don't today.

( For you teenagers checking out this post, I don't mean the Disney cartoon movie stuff you may know. That's a travesty of the books. We're talking actual reading here...)

AA Milne's Winnie the Pooh books have fallen out of favour in recent years, with competition from new authors. Obviously those brought up on them will never forget the stories & the characters & the way they were so understated, but we all accepted them for what they were.
(Was there ever a better example of a depresssive personality then Eeyore - or ADHD than Tigger?)

I still remember some of the poems in books called "When We We're Very Young" & "Now We are Six.". These were given to me by educated aunts on birthdays.
And those verses still chant beautifully when talking to children - or just charging around the house muttering to yourself.
(Any minute now & I will break into verse about John & his wellington boots.).

I suspect this may not be the end of this thread.
There are lots of ideas still from an Eeyore prompt, eh?.
And the people who know what they're talking about aren't the flaming types. Christopher Robin wouldn't have approved..

Karl Marx? The philosopher, social scientist, historian and revolutionary, Karl Marx, is without a doubt the most influential socialist thinker to emerge in the 19th century (1818-1883) A Film producer - NO!

282166 2004-10-19 18:51:00 Oh, dear, of course Karl Marx, he was last seen smoking a big cigar and rolling his eyes in Highgate Cemetary, or was that at a day at the races? Terry Porritt (14)

You mean the guy who sat writing in the warmth and comfort of the local library in London while his wife and kids froze at home - didn't a couple of them die of malnutrition during this spell?

Especially in this culture of now.

Where Karl Hackenbacks sidekick Harpic went clean round the bend after he drove his feathered steed through a flock of horses, which as everyone knows, were flocking together as they are wont to do.
