I made a 100W mosfet bass amp out of a kit from [ the dark one ] DSE for bugger all money a couple of years back , also made own speaker box [ 18" celestion, horn loaded ] and it was plenty loud for the average party , with "live " drummer even , used distortion pedal as pre-amp ...is this any help ...?:| | KatiMike (242) | ||

| 282586 | 2004-10-20 11:39:00 | good fun [ and learning ] to build your own - looking at the DSE site the mos-fet amp would seem to have gone west , the 100w amp kit looks ok [ I once buit a power amp for a mate with 2 of these - sounded just fine and went to about "15" on the volume control ] , there are a few extra expenses like some flex , a box to put the thing in , sockets etc - but it'll deliver some useful watts - imho the preamp is crap - real noisy etc Now I see a new 50w (www.dse.co.nz) unit with heat sink ...hmmm... may have to build one in order to opine... Let me know if you'd like to know about a few books that give some theory and practical advise about speaker boxes , all good fun ... Mike :D |
