| 282567 | 2004-10-19 01:26:00 | Hi. I apologise in advance for my explanation of this problem as I have no technical knowledge at all. Anyhow, since Sunday last I have been unable to connect to the 'net through one of my PC's here at home. Every time I try, I get "The page cannot be displayed" and the associated text that goes with that message. As far as I am aware, nothing has been altered settings-wise - I am the only one who has used the machine recently. I have a cable connection through a Netgear router. The other two machines on the network connect to the 'net no trouble at all. I have compared settings and cannot spot anything obvious. In the few weeks prior to the machine going "off the air" altogther, I did have to try to connect more than once. Sometimes it took 4 or 5 tries before I managed to connect to the Internet. I appreciare any suggestions about the possible cause/fix. Thanks. | k8smum (6062) | ||
| 282568 | 2004-10-19 01:58:00 | Have you checked to see if your Network Card is still working, it may have died Have a look under Device Manager, is there a yellow exclaimation mark over it? Also go into Network properties & make sure no one has disabled the connection |

| 282570 | 2004-10-19 04:14:00 | All seems to be in order as far as network card/connection is concerned. I'm doing a virus-check at the moment. I would do a system restore if I knew how (?) :( | k8smum (6062) | ||

All we know at the moment is that you have a PC, but no idea of what version of Windows (or even if it actually is Windows...) that it uses. Restore is only possible on XP and ME versions of Windows. :) |
