2004-10-20 17:07:00 | Hi, I'm looking at a HP nx7010 notebook and was wondering if the following graphics card would play games such as Battlefield 1942 very well?... ATI Radeon 9200 graphics (64Mb DDR SDRAM) and is this Pentium one of the good ones?...eg. the same as a pentium 4 M or better/worse. Intel Pentium M 725 1.6GHz processor with 2MB Level 2 Cache Centrino technology with Intel 855PM chipset Thanks!

2004-10-20 19:25:00 | Start with the GPU: 9200 can run Battlefield 1942 well just not in HUGH res 800x600 32Bit _SHOULD_ get you nice FPS, My s*ity IGP can get that so you it should run it fine CPU: Pentium M is VERY powerfull with is 2 MB L2 Cache don't be tricked by its lower clock rate it can eazy beat say a 2.4Ghz P4 with 512 L2 Cache So GO WITH! THE Pentium M!

2004-10-20 20:26:00 | Thanxs metla, I have a desktop for most of my gaming time, so this notebook would be for the odd game on a lan, or at lunch etc. Do you recommend any notebook in particular? The missus is paying for 1/2 so it has to "look pretty"! :)

2004-10-20 21:12:00 | There are negatives when getting a p4 based (non P4-M or Centrino) laptop: Battery Life is Bad (mine last about 1 hour) Weight - They are heavier

2004-10-20 21:22:00 | There are some Pentuim M based Notebooks that have better video chipsets ,9700pro and 9800pro,The extra powerfull video will do a a great deal towards making up for the cpu's lack of grunt in that area,No idea about the battery life on one of these hybrids though....or whether they represent good value as far as money goes. Personaly i went with an Asus with an Amd 2800+,512mb ram and a 9600pro,It runs doom no problem at mid settings but Battery life is less then 2 hours and its about 3kg.I also doubt the ladies would find it pretty.... www.computermedic.co.nz
