283307 2004-10-21 07:03:00 Hi
I am running xp home edition, and back in August I installed NAV 04
I am now finding it takes a long time to load NAV after log on.(nearly 2-3 min) no other progams will load while nav is loading
Anyone with any ideas please.

283308 2004-10-21 07:08:00 In my opinion, Norton is rubbish. Get rid of it and down load AVG. Sorry I can't help otherwise.

283309 2004-10-21 07:12:00 Nortons does the job alright but the later versions are getting too intrusive and its a real resource hog.
My vote for avg as well if your after speed and less resource utilisation.

283310 2004-10-21 12:28:00 I removed Norton AV from a computer about 6 months ago, the guy was totaly amazed how much faster his computer is going after Norton was replaced with AVG.
He has spread the word, since I did his computer I have done the same on 4 of his mates computers with similar :)happy faces:).

283312 2004-10-21 22:44:00 I used to have EZ-Anitvirus and ZA on my old pc but my new one came with Nortons(full Internet Security package) I have heard that Nortons is VERY hard to get rid of..... So I have just left it in the mean time and havent installed EZ or ZA.
Is it hard to get out of your system?
What problems (or not) have others experienced??
Many thanks

283313 2004-10-21 23:52:00 Just remove Norton through the Add/Remove in the control pannel, you may experience the live update stick around, which can also be removed via Add/Remove.
But do it in that order Nortons then if its still there remove Live update.
Not to many problems with removing newer versions of Nortons, but the older versions were a real prick to get rid of especially if there was more than the anti-virus program installed.
But I would say go for it.....rid your self of nortons.

283314 2004-10-22 04:58:00 I run it here with Nortons IS package and have no troubles at all. Everything loads at the same time and there was a small extra bit of load time but nothing significant.

Was it running okay to start with?
Have you done all the updates?

Maybe try removing and reinstalling.

Sounds like you are paying for a slow pig of a computer. My advise is when you have 5 - 10 minutes spare get rid of Nortons.
