2004-10-21 07:00:00 | Hey guys, Got SuSE 9.1 Pro today and went to upgrade it over my 9.0 install which wasn't working anyway... When I try to do an upgrade it says to me: root partition in /etc/fstab currently mounted as /dev/hde7 but listed as /dev/hda7 It gave me a website at SuSE portal to visit, however I went there and it simply told me how to do something with SATA when I don't have SATA enabled or in use.... Anyone struck this prob? Or know how to fix it? Cheers Willie_M

2004-10-22 00:11:00 | Why are you trying to do an upgrade on a non-working system? The idea of an "upgrade" is that you keep most of the settings of a working system. Do you really want a non-working 9.1 system? | Graham L (2) | |
2004-10-22 00:23:00 | No, you see... the upgrade will fix it, and I think this mounting problem was the problem in the first place. | willie_M (5608) | |
2004-10-22 00:24:00 | if someone could just tell me what to do at the console I'll be sweet. | willie_M (5608) | |
2004-10-22 00:28:00 | I would expect to see /dev/hda rather than /dev/hde. Can you pause the screem]n while booting and see what disks it is seeing, and what it's calling them? | Graham L (2) | |
2004-10-22 01:10:00 | Ummm, I dont quite know what you mean but my hd setup is as so: sal.neoburn.net I dont know how linux stryctures the drive numbers but the partition it is installed on is hda7.
