| 283317 | 2004-10-22 10:27:00 | Thanks Rob, I had heard some horror stories, must have been the older versions you mentioned. I havent really had any hassles with Nortons Internet Security (so far) so I figured I would keep it in the mean time. My start up is very fast (but then with a new pc I would be brassed off if it wasn't) so Norton's isnt causing any problems in that department. Just out of interest...... If I am running Norton's (full IS) do I need to bother with Xp's firewall?? Have a great weekend Meg |

| 283320 | 2004-10-22 14:27:00 | Hi Meg In a previous existence - like last month - we learned that Dunedin was your closest big place for computer building. I suggested my favourite firm. You got your computer, posted the specs & said how happy you were with the service. Others asked what you paid. Sensibly you ignored that query. They've forgotten about it by now... However, I'm curious to know who you found & whose service you were happy with.It won't change my opinion of my original choice, but it's always nice to have a backstop. Just the name of the firm will do. (And yes, I will try to have a nice weekend. Which supermarket - or was it the Warehouse - started this?) |

Have about 36 Processes running, keep Startup Programmes to minimum, regular runs for Defrag etc. Windows Update and Firewall disabled. Got 768 MB Memory which definitely paid dividends. | FrankS (257) | ||
| 283324 | 2004-10-23 11:01:00 | I took Norton off a friend's computer (this one) but I see on the POST screens that it is still around yet when I follow the file path it's not there. Norton is and has been a puzzle for me. And this comp is so slow that I suspect it's dragging Norton along around it's ankles. :O My2cW |
