283765 2004-10-22 23:39:00 I am trying to use winamp to stream music off the net, but I am unable to refresh the list of 'internet radio' channels. I am running Winamp 5.0.5 with the classic skin through a proxy server. The proxy works fine for everything else, and runs proxy services for about 5 computers. Winamp can access the 'now playing' feature, but is unable to load the channel list. The following is displayed in the winamp library status bar:

[connecting] master server list host...
[connected] retrieving list [0 bytes]
[error] can't get list [showing old content]

In the winamp settings, I have the proxy configured as '192.168.0.254:80' (the ip address of the proxy, port 80). This goes fine for web pages within winamp, but not for the streaming radio. I have also trues using port 1080 (the SOCKS proxy) but this makes no difference. The 'port 80 URLs only' option also makes no difference. The proxy service I use is AllegroSurf. I have tried googling for this problem, but I couldn't find anything.

Cheers,
Bletch

283766 2004-10-22 23:45:00 So can you actually stream? Or is there no way of connecting to a channel at all? Growly (6)
283767 2004-10-22 23:58:00 I can stream to windows media player using wma, but I don't know about winamp - I don't know the addresses of any servers Bletch (244)
283768 2004-10-23 00:28:00 I have checked if Winamp can listen to streams. I have tested is with a shoutcast server on another PC on my LAN, but I don't know whether it can stream off the net - as I said earlier, I don't know the ip:port of any streaming servers I can use to test Winamp on the net.
