283930 2004-10-24 01:28:00 Chill what speed plan are you on?

In theory ofcourse, the maximum download and upload per month on a 256k/128k plan is:

Download:

(((((256/8)*60)*60)*24)*(((7*31)+28+29+(4*30))/13))=83794707.6923 Kilobytes per Month (4 dp)

Which is 83794707.6923/(1024^2)= 79.91 Gigabytes per Month (2 dp)

Upload:

(((((128/8)*60)*60)*24)*(((7*31)+28+29+(4*30))/13))=41897353.8462 Kilobytes per Month (4 dp)

Which is 41897353.8462/(1024^2)= 39.96 Gigabytes per Month (2 dp)

Totalling to approximately 119.87 GB/Month.

Then again, not one ISP can actually regulate such speeds exactly - so anything's possible :D

283931 2004-10-24 01:34:00 40 +GB per month on JetStart.

283932 2004-10-24 01:35:00 And work will only put you on jetstart? barmypom (6048)

Just you wait in till you get your next bill barmypom, it will be nice and BIG, There is No such thing as the "Orcon flat rate" (yes it says on the website about it but you will still get a BIG bill from Telecom as there is NO such thing as the BitStream at the moment as Telecom is having problems with there UBS pressf1.pcworld.co.nz)

Work is an ISP, if they provide JetStart free they can pay for the bandwidth themselves which is cheaper than trying to buy it through Telecom.

I sure as hell won't complain.

283935 2004-10-24 02:07:00 Stu. What planet have you been stuck on? I guarantee you my bill from Orcon will be the same as it is every month $19.99. And Telescum will still only be charging their muppet rates for line rental and ADSL: 29.95 and 39.95.
It will be the same whether I download 0GB or 100GB each month. Orcon's flat rate is exactly what it says on the tin.
Now if I were with Xtra (Telecon in disguise) then perhaps it would be a different story.

Now when I get bitstream, nothing much will change, except I'll be paying Orcon 49.95 a month for ADSL usage and line and just line rental to Telecon.

283936 2004-10-24 02:10:00 Just once in your lives can you not put Telecom down? I don't care what they've done, I don't care how evil they are, but the last 6 posts I've read have some negativity about Telecom in there! It's sickening!

I am with Xtra and I'm very happy. Not once have we been charged incorrectly.

The main reason we can get flat rate at the moment is because no one has the ability to limit the speed. My plan says I'm supposed to be limited to 64k as soon as I pass the 10GB mark, but as of yet that has not happened.

Telecom deserve all the crap they get .
U expect us to be nice about them if we don't like them?
What about free speech and all that . If you don't like it, then just ignore it . Positive comments about Telecom are just as welcome . I would be the first to welcome a few .

Anyway . . . . this post was about how much internet traffic you lot get through . The fact alot of posts on here degenerate into anti-telecon rants is not purely accidental .

283938 2004-10-24 02:23:00 Growly,You can't silence people because of their views,After all we put up with your misguided and delusional views on Telecom.

As for myself, seeing as im on Orcon unlimited,i have never bothered to check how much i use.

My HD only has 800mb left on it so i have been busy.....
