284038 2004-10-24 04:05:00 Hi
At the end of a long and frustrating day fixing three xp computers (2 down 1 to go) I inadvertnley disabled all teh items in the startup list in MSCONFIG. Now when I turn on the PC all I get is a blank black screen.
Help!!

284044 2004-10-24 09:23:00 Hi Just Jan

First how come you made the first mistake twice. The old story one mistake no problems same mistake again (if that is what has happened) no excuse.

Do not go out of your depth. As has ready been said try to go back to restore, but then I do not know too much about this. Perhaps a complete reinstall? Do not touch the third computer until you sort it out.

Best of luck

if 98 try this bootup with a boot disk or f8 boot.... command prompt only. then type in "scanreg /restore" choose a date before the error.
oh by the way if you do this, on the next boot you may end up at c:\ prompt simply type in win and hit the enter key

How do you inadvertently untick a whole stack of check boxes on two machines?
