283675 2004-10-22 18:37:00 OK Guys, the time has come to change plans. We are currently with xtra and have the jetstream starter plan. We have started looking at other plans and ISP's and now want some feedback on different providers etc.
We do online gaming and a fair bit of surfing so we would need more than a 3GB plan.
Tell me about the good and bad but PLEASE keep the anti sentiments to a minimum.

283676 2004-10-22 19:39:00 I am currently on JetStart through Paradise.
I will be changing to the new 2GB plan through JetStream

That is I will use Telecom JetStream 2GB/192KB speed 10GB flat rate plan which gives me 10GB and after that the speed slows to about modem speeds but you pay nothing for going over 10GB. I will keep Paradise as my ISP though. So the plan will cost me $59.95 for the Telecom side as using them to do my calls (not that I do any) and $20 for Paradise ISP.
This is $20 more than I currently pay but then I only get 128/128 speed at present on the JetStart plan.
Was considering Orcon but reading in here there have been really high pings lately which makes playing games suck. Paradise pings are still fine.
Also dont really want the hassles of changing all my e-mail addresses at the moment as there may be some better plans in the near future.

283677 2004-10-23 06:52:00 I'm with Slingshot, it was OK at first, then OE failed - but I could get my mail by WebMail (which is very good) but .....
Have a look at their forum for abuse, phone them for advice(& wait & wait). I waste your time with critisism - but the thing is that they have a good thing if only they'd answer the .......... 'phone(or e-mail and I mean an answer not a bla bla).

Ping times should be irrelevant as the bandwidth for JetStream plans is handled by Telecom and their DSL kit - so the same base network is used by all customers regardless of ISP.

The only time this changes is in the event of true BitStream (not the faux BitStream currently being offered) or JetStart where the ISP provides rthe bandwidth.
