Yeah - once you have the class in a test tube, the rest seems relatively easy .

Granted but that if this discovery was easy, we wouldn't be reading about it. The point about graphite (which is one of the three carbon crystal structures) is that the crystals are flat. They therefore slide over each other easily which is why we use graphite as a lubricant.

Carbon atoms also conduct electrons from point to point very well. So we now have single carbon crystals one atom thick which can be used in nano-computers. And is stable and strong.
