Hi all, please help, have taken a 2TB SATA drive from a desktop pc whose power supply died and installed it into a new SATA external USB Enclosure. It lights up so I know it has power and I can hear the drive spool up. When I plug it into the laptop it goes through the "installing device drivers" and says it installs ok but no drive is visible under my computer. Have tried this on 2 x laptops one running Win7pro and one win8 and it was not recognized on either, any suggestions please ? |

it can see the USB Device under disk drives but not the actual drive itself it that makes sense |

under properties the device driver says ok and updated ok, under the volumes tab it shows nothing and when I hit populate it says "volume information for this disk cannot be found" |

In disk management, make sure the USB drive has assigned a drive letter, if it hasn't that's the problem. Had several of my own USB drives do exactly what you described over the weekend. Right click the drive, Change Drive Letter ---- Assign a Letter. |
