1373367 2014-04-23 07:34:00 Just installed a GeForce GT210 into a home theatre media centre running linux mint 13.
This is connected via HDMI to a tv.
Initially there was no sound at all even with HDMI selected as default.
Managed to get sound in the XBMC app by selecting the HDMI/tv option.
However this option is not available for selection in the mint sound settings.
There is just onboard analogue audio or HDMI.
Have tryed disabiling onboard audio but makes no difference.
Have also run additional driver search which came up with another prefered driver, but this didn't help either.

Any sugestions of even a solution would be appreciated.

HDMI Sound output

If your HDMI Sound output does not work out of the box, you can try the following solution:

In a terminal, type the following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev/alsa-daily
apt update
apt install oem-audio-hda-daily-dkms

1373369 2014-04-23 08:22:00 Thanks Speedy.
Had actually tried that.
I think that may be what got it going in XBMC.
I'll run it again later.

1373370 2014-04-23 08:40:00 Since its meant to be based on Ubuntu, try this post #16 (ubuntuforums.org). Does this system have onboard HDMI too? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1373371 2014-04-23 08:52:00 No onboard HDMI.
But that solution sounds positive.
I'll give that a try later too.
