1356034 2013-10-14 01:20:00 Just how many modem/routers still just need admin/admin or admin/pass to get into em via the internet anyway
That was a known issue a few years back.

As for local network security, let's face it, if you're using some clunky old Dlink you've got bigger issues :)

That was my thoughts exactly. Unfortunately those who are likely to read this, are also those who are smart enough to know not to buy such junk :p

1356037 2013-10-21 22:15:00 Hi Chilling,I started having randoms problems with my net dropping on and off. It seemed happening more in the weekends but today it happened again.

My IP (I use wireless Wimax not broadband) tells me it was my router. I use a TP Link WR1043ND with gargoyle. I have it since 8 months and has been fine until now. I haven't notice any surge and all the electronics are connected to surge protection boards. There is a 3 years guarantee but my question is will TP link honor the guarantee if the router has been used with gargoyle? In any case I have also a TP link WDR 3600 new in the box I bought last year and just set it up and net working now. Is there a gargoyle available for that particular router? Thanks and well done for your help and all the other computer savies for their support. Sure it save us some expenses if we had to call and IT for every issue we encounter.

1356038 2013-10-21 23:11:00 Yep, they should do. I know people who've fried them from flashing things badly and PBTech just took it back, they didn't care.

Yes, Gargoyle is available for the WDR3600, it's one of the few nice dual-band routers out there that supports custom firmware :)

Happy to help, though you should really start a new thread for it ;)

I'm still using a D-Link DSL504T Generation 2 Modem/Router. Should I be worried?
