1355632 2013-10-09 21:57:00 Hi,

I have a Kiwibank account that has a small $550 in it and I am only getting about 75 cents a month interest. Is there another bank that i can get more interest on?

Thanks

The short answer is "probably not", but you can always check out the other banks online and see how much interest they pay on their bank accounts. If you want to earn more interest then you need to have more money in the bank. You can also tell how much interest you will earn on the amount of money you have in the bank with a bit of simple math :)

1355635 2013-10-09 22:30:00 That works out to about 1.63% p.a., you're not going to get much more when the money is just sitting there. pcuser42 (130)
1355636 2013-10-09 22:39:00 The better banks offer 3.85% like the BNZ or ANZ but you may be required to do a $1 top up each month so the balance increases and no withdrawals (or that your deposit is larger than your withdrawal), I think ANZ or Westpac requires a $5 or so increase.

The Kiwbank savings accounts offer really low interest rate they changed this in the past. Unless you have at least $2,000 you won't get competitive interest rate.

1355637 2013-10-10 00:42:00 You have to look at account fees as well, no point getting more interest if you pay it all back in fees. dugimodo (138)
1355638 2013-10-10 01:12:00 cheapest way would be a online transaction account no fees cancel hr statements and.don't go in the bank cos u be charged, for savings account is free but u might only be allowed to make one withdraw or transaction without a fee.

kiwibank offers a free credit card too provided u use once every 3 month's and of course pay the balance off each time.

1355641 2013-10-11 00:46:00 Rabo Bank give 3%pa online account only, not sure if you can use them thru Kiwi Bank, I am with ASB. 3% would give you $1-38 before tax. No minimum balance needed. Arnie (6624)
