| 284168 | 2004-10-24 10:51:00 | system pentium 150 mhz Ram 196 meg Debian (woody) refused to install using boot cd or install floppies Same result with Red Hat 9 But Red Hat 7 not only booted from cd but also installed It even detected the ISA Modem which was thought to be no longer part of this world and the Realtec NIC (video etc all fine) My question is this machine not up to spec for the other two linux dsitros my research seems to indicate it should have been ok. |

The main problem I had installing Redhat 9 on a similar spec machine with 64MB RAM was trimming down the package selection enough so it would fit on a 1.2GB hard drive. ;) Perhaps it could be due to your install media or your CD-rom drive? |

| 284175 | 2004-10-24 22:05:00 | Right you are, however they pruned out a few drivers around 2.4.19 IIRC for ISA modems. | Chilling_Silence (9) | ||
| 284176 | 2004-10-24 23:01:00 | Yeah, the good old Lucent ISA modems were still Win modems plus a few others. Cheers Murray P |
